Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Sceats Millinery! By renting a headpiece, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully.

 

When you rent a headpiece from Sceats Millinery, you agree to the following:

1. Deposit & Refund

  • The rental fee for each headpiece is outlined on the website or at the time of rental. The deposit required for every headpiece is equal and in addition to the rental price. The deposit is refundable upon the timely return of the headpiece in its original condition.

  • The rental fee and deposit will be taken at the point of reservation to hire a particular headpiece. This can be cash, bank transfer, or card payment.

  • If a headpiece is being made in the colours of your choice, the rental fee will not be refunded, whether you go on to rent the headpiece or not. 

  • Once a headpiece has been taken, the rental period will begin. No refunds will be given if the headpiece isn’t worn.

  • Refund of the deposit: Upon the return of the headpiece on or before the agreed rental return date, and in its original condition, the full deposit will be refunded to you.

  • If the headpiece is returned late, damaged, or shows signs of wear beyond normal use, penalties will apply, as outlined below.

 

2. Rental Period

  • The rental period begins on the date you pick up the headpiece and ends on the agreed return date. This is usually 3 days. The return date is set at the time of the rental and cannot be extended without prior arrangement and approval.

 

3. Late Return Penalty

  • If the headpiece is not returned by the agreed return date, the following penalties will apply:

  • A late fee of £20 per day will be charged for each day the headpiece is late, and deducted from the deposit.

 

4. Damages and Loss

  • The headpiece should be returned in the same condition it was rented out. This includes no damage, stains, alterations, or excessive wear.

  • In the event of damage, the following penalties will apply:

  • Minor damage: A reasonable repair fee will be deducted from your deposit if a simple repair is needed.

  • Major damage (such as broken components, stains, rain damage or tears): Any damage beyond a simple repair will result in the full deposit being forfeited. 

  • If the headpiece is lost, you will forfeit your deposit.

 

5. Care of the Headpiece

  • You are responsible for proper care of the headpiece during the rental period. Please ensure it is stored safely in the box given and kept clean. Headpieces must be returned in the same box which must not be damaged, or a charge of £15 will be deducted from your deposit.

  • You should not wear the headpiece in extreme weather conditions (such as rain, snow, or extreme heat). 

  • Please return the headpiece clean. Please note, headpieces must not be attempted to be cleaned as this will cause damage.

 

6. Non-Transferable

  • The headpiece rental is non-transferable. The headpiece rented to you must be worn or used by you, the individual named in the rental agreement only. If you wish to transfer the hat to someone else, prior approval must be obtained.

7. Cancellation Policy

  • The rental and deposit fees will be refunded for cancellations made 14 days before the hire date. The rental and deposit fees will be retained for cancellations made less than 14 days prior to the hire date. For headpieces being made in the colours of your choice, the rental fee will not be returned under any circumstance, as work will start straight after an order is made. 

 

8. Liability and Indemnity

  • Sceats Millinery is not liable for any injuries, damages, or losses that may occur while wearing or using the rented headpiece. You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims arising from the use of the headpiece during the rental period.

9. Privacy Policy

  • Personal information will be collected when you place an order. By giving this information, you are consenting to the collection of your personal data. This will include your name, email address, phone number, home address. Your information will not be shared.

 

10. Governing Law

  • These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom. Any disputes related to this agreement shall be handled in the jurisdiction of England.

 

11. Acknowledgment

  • By renting a headpiece from us, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms and conditions. Rental agreements will only be made with people over the age of 18.
